Project Zoom

A movement to increase Canadians' knowledge about their country and help those in need.

See ya later Winnipeg!

Our time in wonderful Winnipeg has come to an end.

Winnipeg home

When we arrived at our new home ‘for the month’ I really enjoyed exploring our neighbourhood.  We lived in the beautiful historic Armstrong Point area and we made walking or running alongside the Assiniboine River a daily ritual.

Thanksgiving Workout

Our visits to CrossFit 204, a newly opened facility (June 2011) contained a lot of huffing, puffing and laughter.  Thanksgiving Monday found us at Assiniboine Park, where we participated in the “Thankful for Crossfit” exercise adventure, along with members from Prairie CrossFit.

River City Toastmasters Club

Every Monday evening we talked the night away at The River City Toastmasters Club and shared stories about our home town, and learned about our new city from this delightful group of Winnipeggers.

Yvonne and Justin Swandel (not Bieber)

I met with the Deputy Mayor of Winnipeg, Justin Swandel, and learned many interesting facts about the “Peg” during our discussion at City Hall.

Larry and Yvonne on the air

Project Zoom was live on CBC radio discussing ‘all things Winnipeg’ with Larry Updike on the “Up to Speed” show.  If you missed the interview, a link is available on our website you can download and listen to.

Yvonne and Jim at the Blue Bombers game

We really enjoyed participating in the Jets Kick Off party at The Forks (wait till you read about my George Stroumboulopoulos adventure in the book) and even had the opportunity to experience the final home game for the Blue Bombers in the Canad Inns Stadium.  Next season they will be playing in a brand new facility.

Jim, Carol and Yvonne

Part of the fun of zooming includes trying new experiences.  Thanks to my cool new friend, Carol, I had the opportunity to participate in quite a few different adventures…..but, you’ll have to wait for the book Zooming across Canada to learn more about them.

Time to zoom to our next provincial capital city – Regina, Saskatchewan!   See ya later Winnipeg.
