Sidney-by-the-Sea

is located near the Swartz Bay Ferry Docks.  We recently zoomed out of downtown Victoria via a double decker bus, to spend the day exploring this quaint little seaside town with a population of approximately 11,000 residents.  Our 30-minute bus ride was loads of fun and brought back memories of London, England.

Sidney-by-the-Sea is one of Vancouver Island’s best-kept secrets and calls itself Canada’s only ‘booktown’.  There are nine unique bookstores including the island’s oldest bookstore, The Haunted Bookshop.

There are many other types of shops to browse through, including several cafes, bakeshops, and restaurants.

Ahoy Matey

Beacon Park is home to a few new pieces of sculpture that we admired during our stroll along the waterfront walkway.

Sidney Harbour

 

The colourful harbour is busy with boaters travelling up and down the coast.

This peaceful and relaxing town is worth discovering for yourself.  Shhh…..remember, it’s a secret!
